We celebrated when President Clinton signed the historic Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA) into law, guaranteeing many workers unpaid family leave.
But two decades later, progress has stalled. Today only 13% of Americans have access to paid leave, and far too many workers are forced to choose between a paycheck and caring for a loved one.
As a husband and a father, I can’t imagine being in that impossible situation.
That’s why I’m standing with my colleagues to pass the FAMILY Act, which would ensure all workers get up to 12 weeks of paid family and medical leave. Will you sign your name now to urge Congress to pass the FAMILY Act?
The United States is the ONLY industrialized country in the world that does not guarantee paid leave for its workers – and it’s shameful.
When workers have access to paid leave, our whole country benefits: Workers can take the time they need to care for loved ones, and businesses can avoid the steep costs of replacing employees who might otherwise be forced to quit their jobs without paid leave.
I ran for Senate to fight for hardworking families and make sure they have the tools they need to get ahead. Guaranteeing paid family and medical leave by passing the FAMILY Act is essential to that. Please, sign the petition to guarantee paid family and medical leave for everyone.
